The Big Bronze Bell is a special landmark that marks the start of today’s journey. From there the rugged climbing begins. Although this route is challenging, like many trails in Taiwan, there are places to stop and take a rest if you need, like the Changchun Ridge shelter and the Healthy Happy Pavilion. Enjoy the journey at your own pace and take in the spectacular views of Sanxia and its surroundings. At the end of the hike, take in the relaxed vibes of Sanxia Old Street before heading back to Taipei. This is a tough route so bring enough food and water for the whole day. Plus, to fully enjoy this trail it’s advised to download a GPS map before you go to make sure you’re always on the right track, even without an internet connection or phone signal. Getting to Sanxia is easy, simply take the 940 bus from MRT Fuzhong or the 812 bus from MRT Yongning to the Sanxia Old Street stop.
