Orchid Island, a volcanic island off the east coast of Taiwan, is the home of the Austronesian Tao people. The island consists of 6 villages, each with their own beach to sail traditional kayaks. While the fish caught on kayaks provide daily sustenance for local people, the two harbors on the island allow other daily necessities to be imported from mainland Taiwan. Leo visits local elders and learns about the way of life of the seafaring Tao people.
