Vox Nativa Choir: Taiwan’s All-Indigenous Children’s Choir - Resound Ep1
At the foot of Taiwan’s tallest mountain—Jade Mountain—lies a choral group unlike any other. Vox Nativa Choir Taiwan is an all-Indigenous children’s chorus, most of whom are Indigenous Bunun. Because of that, the songs they sing are often distinctive Taiwanese, different than most choral music that can be heard from other children’s choir around the World. Today’s repertoire not only showcases their professionalism as a relatively new choral group, the stories they tell also highlight Taiwan’s diverse musicality and its rich Indigenous heritage. ‘Resound’ is a TaiwanPlus original series that hopes to present Taiwan’s varied musical landscape. Not only are there a wide array of musical genres that are being professionally performed here, but the kinds of musical groups performing them are just as diverse. From classical musicians to contemporary artists that exhibit their talent in both musicianship and songwriting, to jazz bands and acapella groups who tell tales unique to Taiwan. We believe that good music is worth resounding over and over again.
