She was born to Flamenco - Art Echo Ep3
Flamenco dancer Hsueh Yu-hsien (薛喻鮮) is the first Asian dancer to be accepted to the Spanish Royal Conservatory of Dance Mariemma. She went on to win the 31st El Certamen Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Competition with "Eterno retorno”, which is part of "Carmen Bolero Inmortal.” She and her mother Hsueh Yu-hsien (薛喻鮮) are both accomplished performers known to incorporate elements of Spanish classical dance into their interpretations of modern technique. Art Echo provides a look inside the making of a Taiwanese flamenco star. We’ll explore Yu-hsien’s decision to study dance in Spain at just ten years old and the pressures she faced while navigating the expectations set by friends, family, and herself. She now works as a teacher and choreographer in Taiwan who finds new meaning in using her passion for dance to inspire the next generation of students.
