Healing Through Art: The Future is Positive - Art Echo Ep12
People living with HIV still face the pressure of discrimination in light of society’s misconceptions about the virus. However, medicine has now advanced to the point where Undetectable = Untransmittable. Someone who is HIV positive can take regular medication to maintain an undetectable viral load and will not transmit the virus to their partners. They are free to lead a normal and healthy life. In recent years, the community in Taiwan who are HIV positive have turned to art therapy. They look to this form of self-healing while advocating to remove HIV stigma in pursuit of health equity. Art Echo explores how performing artist Tseng Chih-Wei takes his broken heart and makes it into art. Join us for Wild Plum Blossom Close Up, Positive Alliance’s Is(o)Land Bar exhibition, HIVStory’s “RX: Still Life”, and the Generation U- “We are all the same” self-portrait performance as those who are HIV positive share their stories.
