Banksy took graffiti out of the streets and into the gallery. He’s the most widely discussed artist of the century whose creations carry strong political undertones. His work is found all over the world and has since become a focal point of major cityscapes. “Love is in the Bin” was a 2018 art intervention by Banksy at Sotheby’s London where his 2006 “Girl With Balloon” unexpectedly self-destructed after selling for nearly £1.1 million. However, thanks a malfunction, the partially shredded piece survived, and was later auctioned in 2021 for an impressive £16 million! This is the artist’s highest transaction to date. Art Echo explores Banksy’s notable work while following this piece on the first stop of its international tour––the Taipei Dangdai Art Exhibition. American director, Craig Quintero, established Riverbed Theatre 25 years ago to blur the boundaries between visual and performing arts. “Dreams and Shadows” is a new production in partnership with Formosa Circus Art (FOCA) that premiered at the Taipei Festival of the Arts in early 2023. These exceptional physicality of these performers captures a surreal expression of human nature and desire. “The Forgotten” returned to the Fall Festival of the Arts (Taipei) using images, music, installations, and body performances to interpret the experience of Taiwanese miners. They continue to experiment with theatre for one like the “Just for You” and immersive VR experiences like “All that Remains”.
