Starting in August, people caught smoking outside of designated areas in the Dihua and Zhongshan districts of Taipei will be subject to a fine.

Taipei Expands Smoking Restrictions in Public Areas

Taipei will expand smoking restrictions in the city’s public areas.  

 

Beginning in August, smokers in the commercial Zhongshan district and the historic Dihua district will have to find designated areas to light up. Those who don’t follow the new rules will be fined up to $300 US dollars. Taipei started similar restrictions in the popular Ximen shopping district in June.
