Half-Taiwanese and half-French, Sandrine Pinna started her career as a child actor in advertising. In 2008, she was nominated Best Leading Actress for “Miao Miao” at the Golden Horse Awards for the first time and was later nominated twice more for “Yang Yang” and “Touch of the Light.” In 2009, Pinna won Best Actress for “Yang Yang” at the Asia Pacific Film Festival and the 11th Taipei Film Awards. In 2012, she won Best Actress for “Touch of the Light” at the 14th Taipei Film Awards. From the funny swordswoman in “Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain,” to the most beautiful Imperial Consort Yang in “Legend of the Demon Cat,” followed by the double-agent in “Danger Zone” as well as the very different roles in “See You Tomorrow,” “Plurality,” and “Trinity of Shadow,” Pinna has shown multiple performance styles. For her, bringing each character to life is what inspired her to become an actor in the first place. In 2024, Pinna was nominated Best Leading Actress for the fourth time at the Golden Horse Awards for “Dead Talents Society.” In 2025, she co-starred with Isabelle Huppert in “Luz,” which premiered at Sundance. Pinna’s body of work transcends geographical limitations. Through her unrestrained, delicate, and moving performances, she consistently brings global audiences endless moments of pure and unadulterated artistry.
