Kent Tsai is a young Taiwanese actor known for his positive, down-to-earth image and exquisite acting skills. In 2017, he debuted in “The Teenage Psychic,” a TV drama co-produced by PTS Taiwan and HBO Asia that attracted a lot of attention in the Asian market. In the same year, Tsai played a villain for the first time in “Mon Mon Mon Monsters” directed by Giddens Ko, and also a humorous, lively young man in the romantic comedy “All Because of Love.” As a result, Tsai made a name for himself with the charm he displayed in multiple characters. Subsequently, Tsai appeared in many productions, including thrillers and crime dramas, in which he showed his various acting skills. In “Taiwan Crime Stories – Dark Currents,” Tsai played a young man who got dragged into the torture of a wrongly convicted prisoner in the military. Tsai exquisitely portrayed how the character struggled and matured as he embraced the challenge of a more restrained and tense performance style. In 2023, Tsai was nominated Best Actor for “Bad Education” at the Taipei Film Awards, and the film was selected for the Tokyo International Film Festival, Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, and Osaka Asian Film Festival. The character Tsai played in this film was very different from his previous roles; from a gentle good student, he transformed into a violent, bloodthirsty madman, and it proved to be a big breakthrough in his acting. In addition to acting, Tsai continues venturing into different fields and is gradually being seen in the international market.
