Hsieh Ying-xuan has many years' acting experience in theater. Since 2005, she has worked with several companies, including Performance Workshop, Shakespeare's Wild Sisters Group, Edward Lam Dance Theater and Tainaner Ensemble. Since the tickets to the plays in which she stars always sell out in seconds, Hsieh is hailed as the "goddess of theater." To explore different types of acting, Hsieh ventured into film and television in 2015 and has taken a broad range of female roles. In the television drama The Making of an Ordinary Woman, she plays an ordinary office worker who is approaching 40 but has achieved nothing. The television drama Heaven on the 4th Floor features Hsieh as a psychiatrist who helps her patients express their emotions but is alienated from her own mother. Hsieh has even played the role of a local council candidate who comes out of the closet but still insists on running for election in the Netflix drama series Wave Makers. In film, Hsieh is best known for her role as Liu San-lian in Dear Ex. Her outstanding performance as a mother who struggled emotionally when she went between her husband, son and love rival won her Best Actress at the Taipei Film Awards and Best Leading Actress at the Golden Horse Awards. In 2021, Hsieh was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Little Big Women at the Youth Film Handbook Annual Ceremony. In 2022, she received two Golden Bell Award nominations for The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2 and Heaven on the 4th Floor and won Best Female Lead. In addition to acting, Hsieh works in other sectors of the entertainment industry. In 2022, she was the sole host of the 59th Golden Horse Award ceremony, and her calm and steady composure was highly acclaimed.
