Yao Chun-yao began accumulating a broad range of acting experience when he was a student. He has since participated in many plays, films, and television dramas thanks to his solid dramatic training. Much of Yao’s work received international awards, proving that he’s an excellent actor portraying unique characters. Yao made a name for himself with the film Au Revoir Taipei (2009). The starring role in a subsequent television drama In a Good Way was so popular with the audiences that he became the presenter of Stories in Taiwan, a travel show for which he received a Golden Bell Award. Yao attributes all he saw and learned while making Stories in Taiwan as nutrients that continue to enrich his acting. Yao departed as host of the show and took a long break before returning to acting. Since then, he has delivered a series of great performances. He won Best Male Lead in a Television Series at the Golden Bell Awards for The Mirror (2020). This was followed by a turn as the protagonist of the television drama, The Amazing Grace of Σ. A standout performance that led to widespread coverage and discussion in the media. In 2023, Yao played news anchor Chen Heping in the Netflix drama series Copycat Killer. His fantastic performance showed sharp contrast to his previous work and garnered him another nomination for Best Male Lead in a Television Series at the Golden Bell Awards.
