Paige Su always wanted to be a rocker even though she grew up studying Classical music. Her musical style is a natural amalgamation of all the Jazz, Indie, Alternative Rock, and even World Music she discovered while studying abroad in the US and traveling through southern India. Audiences would never expect to see a harp at a fishing port, but this skillful reimagining of classical elements and structures completely shatters everyone’s preconceptions about music. The “Chicken Song” was written when Paige moved back to Keelung on the northwest coast of Taiwan. Every morning the chickens would wake up the entire street market in the city. Sounds of a chicken clucking repeatedly turned out to be a cool rhythm that inspired this song. “We’re All Lonely Souls” seems a bit dark, but the song is trying to convey that we’re all the same. All of us are pursuing things in our heart that we need and things that can bring us together. Similarly, “You’ll Live Forever in My Songs” was written when Paige thought a serious illness would prevent her from making music again. She was quite surprised when she wrote more than 10 songs in just a month after her recovery.
