Taxi Drivers' Club under the Overpass
"Jianguo Rest Stop, with a total of 202 parking spaces and open all day, is the only rest stop for taxi drivers in the center of Taipei City. It is also the largest and longest-established rest stop in Taiwan. Before the rest stop was officially established in 1985 taxi drivers initially gathered under a bridge in the nearby East district. Taxis freely shuttle around the city, picking up passengers at any time and stopping wherever they are needed. Every ride is unique. Over the past thirty years, drivers have witnessed Taiwan's economic takeoff, political changes, and the ups and downs of their own lives on the road. From early morning to late at night, taxis provide uninterrupted service to passengers in the city. This film documents the drivers who enter the underpass of the elevated bridge within 48 hours, each with their own stories while stopping at this rest stop, and with what expectations they leave for their next trip."
