Czech Lawmaker Casts Doubt on Future Taiwan Visits After China Trip
Taiwan says it will continue strengthening ties with the Czech Republic after remarks by Czech lower house speaker Tomio Okamura raised questions about future official visits to Taiwan. Okamura made the comments in an interview with Hong Kong's Phoenix TV after meeting senior Chinese leaders in Beijing, the first high-level visit by Czech lower house representatives in seven years. Taiwan's foreign ministry declined to comment directly on his remarks but reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with Prague. The comments come just a month after the Czech Senate president led a delegation to Taiwan to promote political and economic exchanges.
