Taiwan Protests Papua New Guinea’s Decision To Shut Down Representative Office
Taiwan says it will not accept Papua New Guinea's sudden decision to order the closure of its representative office in the Pacific Island nation. Papua New Guinea's foreign minister announced the move in a Facebook post, reaffirming the country's support for a "one China" policy. Taiwan's foreign ministry said it was not consulted in advance and insisted that the office will continue operating as usual. Taipei also said it is considering necessary measures to safeguard Taiwan's interests and dignity following the unexpected announcement.
