New Lithuanian PM Seeks Closer China Ties, Putting Taiwan Partnership on Edge
New Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius is seeking to improve ties with China to the same level as those of other EU member states. Responding to a lawmaker's questions about Lithuania's ties with Taiwan, Sinkevičius described the 2021 decision to allow the opening of a Taiwanese Representative Office in Vilnius as a "maybe too brave." Taiwan's foreign ministry remains confident in relations with Lithuania, saying bilateral cooperation won't be affected by any third party.
