Afterlife
Jintaro used to be a mason, building tombs for the deceased for 50 years. He also buried his wife and eldest son by himself and built a family crypt for them. From the day they passed away, Jintaro visited Nanshan cemetery in the mornings to clean up the surroundings. In the 90s, (Taiwanese) government passed the legislation to forbid traditional ground burial. Those in grief were left no choice but to cremate their loved ones and moved the urns to columbarium, leaving less people visiting cemeteries. Despite this, Jintaro still persisted on going to the cemetery every day. On some days, Jintaro cleaned up the tombs; on some days, he just sat silently by his wife’s tomb, until he passed away. Today, Jintaro decided to visit his family crypt again. He walked away, and examined each grave, if there was anything different since he left. _ Director: Huang Sheng-Chun, Hsueh Lo-yi Producer: Huang Sheng-Chun, Hsueh Lo-yi
