Hiking Yushan the Highest Peak in Taiwan - Kraig Adams

Yushan, also known as Mount Jade, Jade Mountain, or Mount Yu, and known as Mount Niitaka during Japanese rule, is the highest mountain in Taiwan at 3,952 m above sea level, giving Taiwan the 4th-highest maximum elevation of any island in the world. I linked up with two local subscribers to hike and summit the peak during my visit to Taiwan in the Autumn of 2022. It was surprising to see so many Taiwanese hikers doing the same trek. The cabin built for eating and sleeping about halfway on the trail was a nice refuge before our early morning rise and summit.
