In “The Glory of Beigang Sugar Factory”, we see how the Beigang Sugar Factory went from prosperity to debris to revitalization in the course of many decades. The Beigang Sugar factory used to play a prominent role in the Taiwan sugar industry. However, due to the decrease of international sugar prices, the Beigang Sugar factory closed its doors in 2005. For 17 years, the factory lacked maintenance and repair. A passive disregard to revitalise the factory by The Taiwan Sugar Corporation for over a decade, ultimately becoming an obstacle for Beigang economic development. In recent years however, the Yunlin government and the Tai-Sugar Corporation came up with a plan for the restoration of the Beigang Sugar factory. And this summer, the Yunlin Agricultural exhibition was held in the factory, hopefully symbolizing the re-birth of the once loved, legendary building. - Director: Lauren HSU Producer: Jack SU
