Taiwan will introduce new measures to curb underage and drunk driving.

As part of a series of new road safety measures, Taiwan’s Highway Bureau plans to extend mandatory classes for repeat drunk-driving offenders and introduce a new course for repeat unlicensed drivers under the age of 18.

The measures are expected to take effect at the end of September, with longer classes aimed at reducing repeat offenses.

In 2025, a Taiwan National Police Agency survey found that around 30% of respondents considered drunk driving the country’s most serious traffic violation.
