Amnesty Int'l Report: Global Executions Rose by Over 50% in 2022

Amnesty International's annual report on the death penalty found that global exeuctions increased by more than 50% in 2022. The top three countries for carrying out executions were China, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Taiwan was also listed, even though it did not put anyone to death last year. TaiwanPlus spoke to Amnesty International Taiwan Executive Director Chiu E-ling to find out why Taiwan continues to keep the death penalty as punishment for certain crimes.
