Taiwan's stock market has posted its biggest closing point gain on record. The Taiex surged more than 3,000 points on Friday, closing up 7.98%. Analysts say a streak of favorable earnings by Taiwan's tech heavyweights calmed investor nerves, as other Asian markets also bounced back, with South Korea's Kospi making a record intraday leap of more than 16% and Japan's Nikkei gaining more than 4%.

Taiwan’s benchmark index, the Taiex, surged more than 3,000 points on Friday, closing up 7.98%. Analysts say a streak of favorable earnings by Taiwan’s tech heavyweights has calmed investor nerves. Other Asian markets also bounced back with South Korea’s Kospi making a record intraday leap of more than 16 percent, and Japan’s Nikkei gaining more than 4 percent.

Taiwan’s stock market rallied on Friday following a week of brutal tech and AI sell-offs.

 

Taiwan’s benchmark index, the Taiex, opened more than 4 percent higher to retake the 40,000-point mark. Analysts say a streak of favorable earnings results by Taiwan’s tech names has reinforced outlook on fundamentals. Asian shares also rallied as South Korea’s battered market made a record comeback, with the country’s benchmark Kospi leaping more than 10 percent, and Japan’s Nikkei gaining 4.5 percent.
