Taiwan Shares Slide Amid AI Funding Fears

Taiwan's stock market opened sharply lower on Tuesday. The benchmark Taiex fell more than 4% during the morning session, amid concerns over the massive funding demand fueled by the global AI boom. The sell-off extended across Asia, with Japan's Nikkei dropping more than 4% and South Korea's Kospi falling more than 10%.

Taiwan’s stock market opened down on Tuesday, seeing losses widen in early trading.

 

Taiwan's benchmark index, the Taiex, shed more than 4 percent value in morning trading, as AI-related stocks were heavily sold off. It comes amid concerns about the massive funding demand spurred by the AI boom. Across the region, Japan's Nikkei slid more than 4 percent and South Korea's Kospi dropped more than 10 percent.
