Japanese Lawmakers Visit Taiwan as Regional Tensions Rise

A delegation of seven Japanese lawmakers has arrived in Taiwan to discuss regional security, joining two other Japanese groups currently visiting the country as ties between Japan and China remain strained. Led by Conservative Party of Japan's Kitamura Haruo, the delegation says peace and stability are important for Japan and the broader region, and that it supports efforts to advance more pro-Taiwan legislation. The visit follows a Japanese parliamentary delegation’s trip to China last month. Taiwan’s foreign ministry says the exchanges reflect close ties between Taipei and Tokyo and Japan’s attention to regional developments.
