Taiwan Votes on Ractopamine Pork
Taiwan is one of the world’s highest per capita consumers of pork. This weekend, voters will decide whether to reinstate a ban on pork imports treated with the additive ractopamine. Opponents of ractopamine express concerns about its safety, but Taiwan’s governing party says allowing the imports simply brings Taiwan in line with international food safety standards.
