Double Defeat for KMT
Taiwan’s main opposition party vowed to devote its energy to local elections later this year after political knockouts in two of the country’s largest cities deepened the party’s woes. A by-election victory in Taichung and the Kuomintang’s failure to oust rockstar politician Freddy Lim from office added to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party’s string of political wins.
