Soil Radicals Are Linked to Human History! - Explore with Mandarin Radicals Ep6

The Mandarin character for soil is a pictograph. The horizontal stroke at the bottom represents the ground, while the shape above represents a raised clump of soil. The modern character was created by simplifying the initial curved strokes into straight lines for convenience and then turning the clump of soil into a cross. Hebe and Becca are exploring how the soil closely relates to human history at different archeological sites across Taiwan. How many soil radicals can you spot at Anping Old Fort (ān píng gǔ bǎo), the Anping Fort Observation Tower (liào wàng tǎ), Fort Zeelandia, and a traditional tomb sweeping site (dà bèn kēng yí zhǐ)?
