The Sorrow of the Houlong Stone Fish Traps

For hundreds of years, the local residents of Houlong on Taiwan's West Coast have built giant stone fish traps. The large, interlocking, U-shaped stone embankments use the changing tides to trap fish. But, facing daily battering by the waves, the traps – an important part of the local cultural heritage – need constant care and maintenance.
