At least five people are dead and dozens missing after a ferry caught fire off Palawan in the Western Philippines.

The MV June Aster was carrying over 130 passengers and crew from Manila to popular tourist destination Coron when a fire broke out at night around 2 kilometers off the coast. Dozens of survivors have been brought ashore as search operations face rough seas.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the blaze as coast guard and civilian vessels search for survivors.
