The 14-year-old gunman then took his own life. Thailand’s public health minister says the student also killed his grandparents before the attack at the school, taking the death toll from the attack to eight. Thailand has strict gun laws but has seen several mass shootings in recent years, most recently another school shooting in February.

We've been getting conflicting casualty numbers from various authorities. The health minister Pattana Promphat is now saying that five teachers have been killed at the school. This would bring the toll to eight, including the suspected shooter's grandparents and the perpetrator himself. So five victims at the school, plus the student, plus the two grandparents.

Last year, five people were killed in a shooting at a food market in Bangkok.

At first, I thought they were sounds of firecrackers or someone banging onto something loudly. And then it started getting more frequent, like 'bang, bang, bang' and then it went quiet at one point. And the shooting started again.

The minister did not specify whether the four dead included the gunman, who police said had killed himself. The incident took place in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province north of Bangkok.
