Japan’s Space One Rocket Explodes During Third Satellite Launch

A rocket built by Japanese startup Space One exploded about a minute after liftoff on Thursday, ending its third attempt to launch a fully commercial satellite mission. The Kairos rocket was carrying five experimental satellites, including one from the Taiwan Space Agency. The failure is another setback for Japan’s efforts to strengthen domestic launch capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign companies like SpaceX.
