Taiwan-born U.S. Critical Care Physician: Future of COVID
As COVID-19 becomes classified as a common flu in many countries, Taiwan Talks spoke to William Chang, U.S.-based critical care physician, on what to look out for in 2023 with newer, yet less fatal variants. Chang was on the frontlines of the largest outbreaks in the U.S. as he treated COVID patients. Born in Taiwan, he also describes his quarantine experience during a visit back to the country as humanistic and well-managed. Chang compares how Taiwan’s response was organized in ensuring medical facilities had sufficient masks and other personal protective equipment. In light of Taiwan’s relaxation of indoor face masks, he also talks about their effectiveness and how they continue to save lives.
