Former Ukraine Foreign Affairs Committee Chair: Ukraine Shows Democracy Winning
As the Russian invasion of Ukraine hits one-year, Hanna Hopko, Chairwoman of Democracy in Action and former Ukrainian Member of Parliament and the Head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, speaks to Taiwan Talks from war-torn Ukraine on how the country and its people are holding up and determined to fend of Russian aggressors. She speaks about how over 90% of Ukrainians believe their country is winning and how a Ukrainian victory is a symbol of the strength of democracy over authoritarianism. Hopko also shared how keeping up a fearless fighting spirit is key to winning. She drew parallels with how this could also be applied to Taiwanese determination in deterring a potential Chinese invasion. The former MP also shows us the electric generators that have just arrived from Taiwan. She details how both countries are working together on rebuilding the country and against fake news, propaganda, and cyberwarfare from Russia and China.
