Taiwan will lower airline passenger fuel surcharges again starting July 7 as aviation fuel prices continue to fall. Short-haul and long-haul travelers will both see reduced fees.

Airline Fuel Surcharges Reduced

REPORTER:

The Civil Aviation Administration announced that airline fuel surcharges will go down once again, as aviation fuel prices continue to drop.

The passenger fuel surcharge is based and adjusted on international aviation fuel price, as announced by the CPC Corp. Starting next week, the fuel surcharge will drop from $91 US dollars down to around $71 dollars for long-haul flights, and from $35 to about $27 dollars for short-haul flights.

These fees went up sharply in April, when oil prices rose during the war between the US and Iran. But they have been slowly falling since June. Taiwan’s aviation body has asked flight operators to disclose operating costs to help passengers understand the changes.
