Taiwan Folk Religion Alive and Well As Country Celebrates Tudigong’s Birthday
Across northern Taiwan, devotees gathered at Nanshan Fude Temple in New Taipei to celebrate the birthday of the Earth God, Tudigong. Widely worshiped in homes, communities, and villages, Tudigong is considered Taiwan’s most accessible deity, blessing people in their daily lives. The temple was filled with worshipers offering thanks, praying for peace, and honoring one of the country’s most revered local gods.
