Taiwan Warns New Chinese Platform Targets Taiwanese Youth
Taiwan's government is raising concerns over a new Chinese platform offering exchange programs, education and internship opportunities to young Taiwanese. The Mainland Affairs Council says the platform may be used for united front work or an effort to collect personal data on Taiwanese youth, and officials say they will monitor for activity ahead of November's local elections.

In terms of youth unemployment, working conditions and the overall environment, Taiwan is far better than mainland China. There is no need to fake a good job market. They are forcing this “serve the Taiwanese youth” scheme as a guise for united front work or to collect personal data of young Taiwanese to hand over to the Chinese Communist Party. These are all risks that should be carefully considered.
The Mainland Affairs Council, which handles relations with China, says the website is part of Beijing's efforts to influence Taiwanese youth. With local elections approaching, the government says it will be monitoring whether this website and other united front activity are being used to sway voters.
