New Taiwan-Built Warship

President Lai Ching-te reiterated his message of “peace through strength” at a ceremony commissioning a new class of domestically-built warship.
Lai Ching-te (TAIWAN PRESIDENT):
Peace is priceless
and there are no winners in war.
But peace cannot be secured
simply by signing a peace agreement.
Nor can it be achieved
by relying on the aggressor's goodwill
Nor can peace be achieved
by accepting the aggressor's demands.
We firmly believe that peace is achieved through strength.
REPORTER:
The Dan Chiang is a domestically designed corvette with stealth missile capabilities that can hit both air and sea targets. It's meant to carry out strike missions and respond to Chinese gray-zone activities. A total of 12 similar-class ships are expected to enter service by the end of the year.
