Taiwan badminton player Chou Tien-chen has won his second BWF Super 1000 title at the age of 36. The victory makes him the oldest men’s singles player to win a tournament at this level.

Taiwan’s top shuttler Chou Tien-chen has clinched gold at the 2026 China Open, a Badminton World Federation Super 1,000 tournament.
The world number-6 beat France’s Toma Junior Popov 2-1 in the men’s singles final. It marks Chou’s second Super 1000 title, after his victory at the Indonesia Open in 2019. The 36-year old also made history as the oldest men’s singles player to win a tournament at this level. Chou is also expected to head to the Asian Games in Japan this September.
