Taiwan’s military is preparing for a weeklong joint defense exercise.

 

Starting on Monday, the drill will simulate scenarios such as detecting enemy launches and incursions into Taiwan’s territorial waters. It focuses on joint operations, testing the military’s decentralized targeting and engagement capabilities, and its distributed command and control.

 

The exercise serves as a warm-up ahead of Taiwan’s major annual Han Kuang military drills in August.
