Giant Forced Labor Probe Reveals Gaps in Taiwan’s Laws, Says Watchdog

An investigation into Taiwanese bicycle maker Giant by Taiwan's watchdog agency has found indicators of forced labor among migrant workers at the company's factories but it says local laws are to blame for failing to flag these kinds of abuses. Giant was hit with a US export ban last year which cited practices such as poor working and living conditions, debt bondage, withholding of wages and excessive overtime.
