Taiwan Foreign Minister To Attend Pacific Islands Forum Events in Palau

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung will lead a delegation to Palau for events related to this year’s Pacific Islands Forum. He will take part in a dialogue with the bloc’s member states and visit an exhibition showcasing Taiwan’s development projects across the Pacific.

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung will lead a delegation to Palau to attend events related to this year's Pacific Islands Forum.
The foreign ministry says Lin will take part in a dialogue with the bloc’s member states. He will also visit an exhibition showcasing Taiwan’s development projects in the Pacific, including initiatives in renewable energy, climate adaptation and smart healthcare. He is scheduled to meet with Palau President Surangel Whipps, Jr. and hold sideline exchanges with other delegations.
Taiwan has participated in Pacific Islands Forum summit events as a development partner since 1993. It was excluded from last year’s gathering along with the US and China, after Beijing reportedly pressured the forum to exclude Taiwan.

Taiwan Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung will attend this year's Pacific Island Forum.
The Foreign Ministry says Lin will lead a delegation to Palau from August 27 to September 3 to attend the 30th Taiwan/Republic of China–Pacific Islands Forum Countries Dialogue.
At Palau’s invitation, the delegation will also attend the Pacific Prosperity Exhibit, where Taiwan will share with Palau and other Pacific allies the results of its cooperation in areas including digital resilience, renewable energy, infrastructure, climate adaptation, smart healthcare and social empowerment.
