Taiwan Freezes Moroccan Visa Applications in Reciprocal Move
Taiwan has suspended visa applications from Moroccan citizens after Morocco stopped processing visa requests from Taiwanese travelers. Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Morocco's decision, made without prior notice, has disrupted business, tourism and bilateral exchanges. Citing the principle of reciprocity, Taipei announced it will stop accepting visa applications from Moroccan nationals starting July 30, except in special cases.

Taiwan will no longer process visa applications for Moroccan citizens who want to travel to the country, after Morocco did the same for Taiwanese.

Morocco's abrupt suspension of visas has already created obstacles for Taiwanese citizens traveling for business or leisure and has affected bilateral exchanges. Based on the principle of reciprocity the foreign ministry announces that, effective July 30, except for special cases, Moroccan applications for travel to Taiwan will be suspended.

Last week, Taiwanese citizens applying for Moroccan visas found that their applications had been suspended without notice. Taiwan's foreign ministry confirmed that the Moroccan government told its embassies to stop processing Taiwanese applications, and has since instructed its offices to do the same. The ministry is urging the Moroccan government to resume exchanges as normal.
