Baishatun Mazu Followers Warned of Scams Amid Sophisticated Fraud Scheme
Fraud schemes in Taiwan are getting more sophisticated, now incorporating popular events to find victims. The latest scheme targets followers of Baishantun Mazu, one of Taiwan's most-worshipped deities. Police say they've received at least 70 reports of people defrauded in the months leading up to the annual pilgrimage, which 400,000 people are expected to participate in.
