Taiwan’s top trade negotiator has denied accusations of workplace bullying.
Trade representative Yang Jen-ni was suspended after a Cabinet investigation found that she had bullied her deputy, Yen Huai-shing. Yen resigned in February, citing health issues, and died a few weeks later.
Yang said the investigation relied on one-sided statements from a small number of colleagues and lacked evidence. She said she was not given the opportunity to respond.
A Cabinet spokesperson said Yang’s suspension will not affect Taiwan’s trade cooperation or negotiations with the US.

Trade Official Denies Bullying Allegation After Suspension

Taiwan’s top trade negotiator has denied workplace bullying following her suspension.
In a statement Monday, trade representative Yang Jen-ni said the Cabinet's investigation relied on the one-sided statements of a few colleagues and was lacking in evidence.
She also alleged certain politically influential sources were driving negative coverage to shape public opinion and sway the investigation, adding she’s considering legal action against those spreading false rumors.
A Cabinet investigation earlier found Yang had bullied her late deputy, Yen Huai-shing, who resigned in March following health leave, just weeks before she died at aged 53.
