While Typhoon Bavi did not make direct landfall on Taiwan, it has brought torrential rain and strong winds to the country. Dozens of people have been reported injured and transportation around the country is disrupted.

Typhoon Bavi Changes Course, Spares Taiwan Direct Hit

Typhoon Bavi turned northwards on Friday, bringing its path away from a direct hit on Taiwan’s east coast. Officials and residents there had prepared for a worst-case scenario. And while Taiwan has avoided the worst of the storm, it disrupted transportation around the country, and dozens of people are reported injured. The typhoon’s effects are expected to continue throughout Saturday.
