Typhoon Bavi Approaches Taiwan, Land and Sea Warnings Issued
Typhoon Bavi is fast approaching Taiwan. The Central Weather Administration said at 11 a.m. Friday that the storm was located around 600 kilometers due east of Taiwan's southern tip and moving northwest at 26 kilometers per hour. The strongest winds and rain are expected Friday night into Saturday. Land and sea warnings have been issued in the north and east of the island, where schools and offices were closed Friday. In Hualien County, flood-prone areas have been evacuated.
