Hualien Issues Barrier Lake Red Alert After Typhoon Bavi
A red alert has been issued for the Wanli Creek barrier lake in the mountains of Hualien, with residents downstream evacuated. The lake is now more than three-quarters full, with the water level just seven meters below the top of the dam. The rise came after Typhoon Bavi brought extra rainfall to the area.
