A Hidden Paradise in the Hakka Country: Zhuo Ye Cottage - Unique Stays in Taiwan Ep8

Mia and Natalie are off to Zhuo Ye Cottage to experience Hakka culture. The idyllic fairyland cottage is the perfect blend of tradition an innovation. An excuse to finally get out of the city and chill in a tatami room with a secluded patio to transport you into your own little world. The girls couldn’t help but notice traditional elements from Taiwan’s diverse traditional cultures. The rice grainery was once a fixture in every Taiwanese household. It’s now been rebuilt in a way that feels almost an enchanted scene from Studio Ghibli. A plentiful harvest of dye yams means there’s plenty of indigo dyeing and even a basket of indigo dyed foods to enjoy. It’s easily Natalie’s favorite part of the entire trip. The space may be compact, but it has a little bit of everything. There’s communal space and dining areas along with bedrooms to rest. The all-inclusive rural vibe is a great way to unwind after enjoying a hearty vegetarian meal.
