Oldest Military Dependents' Village B&B | Unique Stays in Taiwan Ep5

Mia and Natalie are all about nostalgia for the Taiwan of yesteryear. Zuo Military Village Inn is a well-preserved military dependents village in Kaohsiung. These neighborhoods were once home to the dependents of KMT soldiers who came to Taiwan with the Nationalist government in 1949. Most of the staff are career military who have since restored the space as an homage to days gone by. It all feels a bit like spending the day at your Taiwanese grandma’s house. A lot of the surrounding houses date back to the Japanese Colonial period. There are remnants of the Japanese culture in everything from the outdoor areas to the tatami style rooms. This is quite different from more Western accommodations in the city, but everything still feels quite cozy when combined with the charm of vintage Taiwanese furniture. The hotel is also within walking distance to the ocean. It’s the perfect combination of urban living and a seaside escape to help you make the most of your time in Kaohsiung. How would it feel to step back into Taiwan’s past glory? Let us know in the comments below.
