Fire at Bangkok Bar Kills at Least 27 People

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has offered support at the scene of a deadly blaze at a popular live music venue in Bangkok. Officials say at least 27 people have died and 63 have been injured, many critically. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

Thailand’s prime minister is offering support after at least 27 people died in a fire at a bar in Bangkok.

 

Anutin Charnvirakul (THAI PRIME MINISTER):  

Right now, we have been able to bring the deceased bodies out. For that, there were already 27 bodies. The rest were sent to hospitals already and we are still checking their conditions.

 

63 people are injured, with many of them in critical condition. The blaze happened in a northern suburb of the Thai capital and was one of the deadliest such incidents in recent years. Rescue efforts are ongoing, and the cause is under investigation.
